Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing my Valentine Heart Towel Topper pattern with you. This is a simple and quick crochet pattern that you can make for the upcoming holiday. Feel free to make this Valentine Heart Towel Topper in any color you’d like. As always, my towel toppers are made so you can use any towels you’d like.
The Valentine Heart Towel Topper is made using worsted weight yarn. I’m using Red Heart Super Saver and Red Heart with Love. Feel free to use any worsted weight yarn you’d like. I’m also using a size I-9 crochet hook. My favorite is the Clover Amour hooks. You will also need a tapestry needle, scissors, a towel, and some buttons. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Rows 12-14: 1sc in each stitch across. Ch1 and turn. (19scs)
Row 15R: 1sc in next 9scs. Ch1 and turn. Leave remaining stitches unworked. (9scs)
Row 16R: 1sc decrease, 1sc in remaining stitches. (8scs)
Row 17R: 1sc decrease, 1sc for middle stitches, 1sc decrease at end. Ch1 and turn. (6scs)
Row 18R: 1sc decrease, 1sc for middle stitches, 1sc decrease at end. Ch1 and turn. (4scs)
Row 19R: 2sc decreases. Cut yarn, make a slip stitch. Weave in end.
You will now make the left lobe of the heart.
Row 15L: Without turning, skip the middle stitch and make a slip stitch in next stitch. Make a sc in the same stitch and in each remaining 9 stitches. Ch1 and turn. (9scs)
Row 16L: Sc in first 7sc. Make a sc decrease at the end of the row. Ch1 and turn. (8scs)
Row 17L: 1sc decrease, 1sc in middle stitches, 1sc decrease at the end. Ch1 and turn. (6scs)
Row 18L: 1sc decrease, 1sc in middle stitches, 1sc decrease at the end. Ch1 and turn. (4scs)
Row 19L: 2sc decreases. Do not cut yarn after this last stitch.
Border: Make 1sc evenly around the heart. When you reach the bottom of the heart, you will make 3scs in the middle of the ch3 from the beginning. Next, make 1sc evenly around the other side of the heart. When you reach the middle, skip the skipped stitch and make a sc decrease. This will help gather the heart in a little. Continue making a sc until you get back to the beginning. Make a slip stitch and cut yarn. Weave in all your ends.
Towel Loop:
Ch21. Make 1sc in 2nd stitch from hook and in each stitch across. Cut yarn leaving a long tail to weave in.
Hanging Loop:
Leaving a long tail at the beginning for weaving in, ch6.
Row 1: Make 1sc in 2nd stitch from hook and in each stitch across. Ch1 and turn.
Rows 2-24: Sc in each stitch across. Ch1 and turn.
Row 25: Sc in 1st two stitches, ch1 and skip next stitch (button hole space), sc in last two stitches. Ch1 and turn.
Row 26: Sc in each stitch across including the ch1 space. Cut yarn and weave in end.
At the beginning of the hanging loop (not the button hole side), sew the heart button on. You will sew the button onto this hanging loop before sewing the hanging loop onto the hearts.
Sewing:
Place two hearts together with right sides facing out. Next, sew the two hearts together starting about 1 ½ inches from the bottom of the heart and all around until 1 ½ inches on the other side. Finally, cut yarn and weave in ends.
For the Towel Loop, sew this on the inside of either side of the heart where the opening begins. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
For the Hanging Loop, you will sew this onto the back of the Valentine Heart Towel Topper. You will start from the top middle of the heart about 2 inches down. Make sure this is nice and secure. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Finally, you will insert your towel into the Towel Loop. You’re now finished!
