Striped Corner to Corner Blanket

Today I’m sharing my newest blanket pattern, the Striped Corner to Corner Blanket. This blanket can be easily adjusted to be bigger or smaller. Likewise, this can be made in a solid color or as many different colors as you’d like.

This is a beginner-friendly pattern, but you do need to know the basics of crochet in order to make this pattern. Check out my tutorials of the different stitches needed for this blanket:

The Striped Corner to Corner Blanket is free on my blog.

However, if you would like to purchase the ad-free pattern, you can do so here.

Let’s continue onto the pattern!

Striped Corner to Corner Blanket

MATERIALS:

FINISHED SIZE:

34×34

NOTE:

Corner to corner crochet (c2c) is a technique that works just as it sounds–you crochet little “boxes” at a diagonal, increasing each row by one box until your project is tall and wide enough, at which point you start decreasing each row.

PATTERN:

How To Corner To Crochet Increase

ROW 1:
Step 1: Chain 6
Step 2: Double crochet into the fourth chain from the hook
Step 3: Double crochet in the next two chains

ROW 2:
Step 4: Chain 6
Step 5: Double crochet in fourth chain from the hook and next two chains
Step 6: Slip stitch into the ch-3 turning chain from the previous row
Step 7: Chain 3
Step 8: Double crochet 3 in ch-3 turning chain

ROW 3 and beyond:
Repeat steps 4-8

How to Corner to Corner Crochet Decrease

Step 1: Instead of chaining 3 as you usually would, slip stitch in each double crochet
Step 2: Slip stitch into ch-3 turning chain
Step 3: Chain 3
Step 4: Double crochet 3 in ch-3 turning chain of previous row.

When you’ve reached the end of your blanket, fasten off and weave in your ends.

Striped Corner to Corner Blanket Color Sequence

I did 5 rows of each color repetitively. When I got to the middle stripe, I did 6 rows of chinchilla (brown) so that it would look even and then went back to 5 rows of each color. Below is the color sequence:

Increasing:

  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 3 rows chinchilla

Decreasing:

  • 3 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 5 rows chinchilla
  • 5 rows spa
  • 4 rows chinchilla

BORDER:

Round 1: With Spa color, make 1 hdc in each stitch around. Be sure to make 3 hdcs in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning of round. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 2: With Chinchilla (brown), make 1 sc in each stitch around. Be sure to make 3 scs in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning of round. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I hope you enjoyed my Striped Corner to Corner Blanket pattern. The c2c technique might take a little bit to get used to, but once you do, you will enjoy the process just as much as I did.
