Hi everyone! St. Patrick’s Day is coming up fast, so I wanted to make a St Patrick’s Day Towel Topper. I wanted something that works up quickly and is easy enough for beginners to make as well. This is a great little addition to spruce up your kitchen for the upcoming holiday. All you need is a little bit of worsted weight yarn, a hair tie, and a towel!

For today’s tutorial, you will need a hair tie. I’m using these. You will also need a little bit of worsted weight yarn in green, black, and yellow (I’m using Red Heart Super Saver). You will also need a size H-8 crochet hook. I’m using my favorite Clover Amour hooks. Check out my review of them here. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

St Patrick’s Day Towel Topper

Materials:

• H-8 Crochet Hook
• Worsted Weight Yarn in Paddy Green, Black, and Yellow
• Hair Ties
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle
• 1 black button
• Towel

Pattern:

With green, make a sl st around the hair tie and ch2.

Next, dc around the entire hair tie. You don’t need a specific number of dcs, but make sure your hair tie is covered evenly. Join with sl st to beginning dc and ch1.

Sc in the next 9 stitches across. Ch1 and turn.

You will make 15 sc rows altogether. After row 15, cut yarn and join in black yarn. Ch1 and turn.

Sc across row. Ch1 and turn.

For next row, you will make 1sc in the next 4 stitches, ch1 and skip the next st (this is the button hole), and 1sc into the final 4 stitches. Ch 1 and turn.

Sc into each st across. Ch1 and turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Yellow Belt Buckle:

With yellow, ch11. Join with sl st to form a ring. Ch1. Working in a round, make 2scs in first ch, 1sc in next 2 chs, 2scs in next ch, 1sc in next 2 chs, 2scs, in next ch, 1sc in next 2 chs. 2scs in next ch, 1sc in next 2chs. Join with sl st to beginning. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew belt buckle over top of towel topper right over the button hole.

Sew button on the towel topper between rows 1 and 2 of your sc rows. Fold over and insert your button through the button loop. Insert towel into your towel topper and you’re finished!
