Hey everyone! I was doing a quick search online for some different Halloween patterns to try out. Then I came across the Spooky Halloween Banner, which you can find for free on redheart.com. I thought the Spooky Halloween Banner would be a perfect addition to the Halloween Banner I made last year. You can check out that free pattern here.
For this banner, I thought it would be easy enough to make the three different motifs. You have a bat, pumpkin, and a zombie, but I’m sure you could always make a black cat, Frankenstein, or ghost. This Spooky Halloween Banner would be a great DIY Halloween decoration.
SPOOKY HALLOWEEN BANNER PATTERN REVIEW
To make these motifs, you will need worsted weight yarn in orange, green, black, and white. I used Red Heart Super Saver and Walmart Mainstays yarn. You can check out my review of each of these yarns here and here. You will also need a size G-6 crochet hook. I really enjoy using the Clover Amour hooks, which you can purchase here. Not sure if you want to invest in these hooks? You can check out my review of them here.
MAKING THE MOTIFS
You will begin this pattern by making the motifs. You will make three bats, two pumpkins, and two zombies. However, you can always customize and use different motifs as you’d like. Each motif worked up fairly quickly as they’re small. The pattern calls for plastic safety eyes, but I didn’t have any available. Instead, I just sewed on eyes using black yarn.
Once you are finished making the motifs, you will simply attach them to a long string of black (or any other color) yarn. This is a simply process and only takes a few minutes to attach. The pattern states that you can add as many motifs as you would like. You could always make a few different versions of this Spooky Halloween Banner as well to hang around your house.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Overall, the Spooky Halloween Banner was simple to put together. It’s an easy Halloween project that you can make quickly to decorate your house for a Halloween party. I like the fact that the motifs were simple enough to make and that the instructions were easy to understand. I also like the fact that you can customize this banner and make it as big as you would like.
