Hey everyone! In today’s yarn review I’m going to review Red Heart with Love. This is the sister yarn to Red Heart Super Saver. Red Heart with Love can be found in stores and online at Joann Fabrics and Walmart.
This yarn is an ultra-soft premium acrylic yarn that comes in over 30 shades of mixable multi-prints as well as no-dye solid skeins. Red Heart with Love is considered a #4 worsted weight yarn and is machine washable and dryable. This makes it a perfect candidate for charity crocheting and knitting. This yarn is on the thicker side for a worsted weight yarn, but that means you can finish your projects quickly. Since the solid skeins don’t have dye lots, this means you can easily go from one skein to the next without having to worry about a color match.
Each solid skein of Red Heart with Love is 7oz or 370 yards. The multi-prints and stripes are both 5oz with the multi-prints being 230 yards and the stripes being 223 yards. All versions of this yarn are 100% acrylic. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size K-10.5 (6.5mm), and for the knitters a recommended needle size US 9 (5.5mm). From what I’m seeing the stripes are the newest version in this Red Heart with Love line. I haven’t tried the multi-print or the stripe versions yet, so this review will simply be on the solid version. However, I’m sure the other two versions are just the same as the solid.
The color that I picked up is called Evergreen, which is a nice dark green color. The first thing I noticed about this yarn is how squishy and how soft it is. It’s definitely a lot softer than Red Heart Super Saver! I decided to make a cable hat with this yarn to test out how I like it. The pattern that I’m using is the Cable Beanie version 2 by All About Ami. This is a free pattern on her blog. I bought some faux fur poms on Etsy to try out, and I thought this would be the perfect hat for it. Let me just say that I LOVE this hat!! The pattern is easy to follow and it works up beautifully!
While making this hat, I felt like my crochet hook glided through the stitches. It’s very easy to work with and I found no knots at all, at least in the skein I purchased. I love the color selection as I feel like there are a nice variety of vibrant colors to choose from. My only complaint is that my local Joann Fabrics store doesn’t carry all the colors in store. If I wanted to purchase other colors, I would have to purchase online. This isn’t a big deal for me, unless I’m scrambling to finish a project on time.
Overall, I would recommend Red Heart with Love for a variety of projects including hats, scarves, and blankets. It’s very plush, soft, and easy to care for, which is great if you’re making a gift for someone. You can simply throw your project in the wash and it comes out looking great. With over 30 color options, there is truly a color for everyone.
I hope you enjoyed my review of Red Heart with Love! Stay tuned until next week where I’ll share a pattern using this yarn. Have you tried this yarn before? Feel free to leave a comment below. I’d love to hear from you!

I used the With Love yarn last year to make blankets for my grandkids. The blankets came out beautifully and are nice and soft. I did notice that at least for me, the yarn had a tendency to split more than some other yarns. However it enough for me to not use it again on another project!

I’m glad you had a positive experience with this yarn. Unfortunately that can happen with some yarns. I haven’t noticed it with the skeins that I’ve used so far, but I have noticed splitting with other yarns. Thanks for reading! 😀
