Today I’m reviewing Red Heart Ombre Yarn. I’ve been on the lookout for Red Heart Ombre for months and finally came across it at my local Joann Fabrics store. You should have seen the giant smile on my face when I saw them in the aisle! Anyway, the look of this yarn is absolutely beautiful and I was happy to finally get my hands on this yarn.

Red Heart Ombre is 100% acrylic and is machine washable. This is considered a #4 worsted weight yarn, which makes it perfect for a wide range of projects. Each skein is 10oz or 482 yards whereas the original Red Heart Super Saver yarn is 7oz or 364 yards (solid colors). Be aware that Red Heart Ombre comes in dye lots, so make sure you purchase enough for your projects. What’s fun about the ombre yarn is that the colors move from light to dark and back to light again. This means you can get the gradient look without having to switch skeins to get the same effect.

Red Heart Ombre is available in 12 different colors. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size I-9 while the recommended needle size for knitters is a size US 8. The color that I picked up was the color Anemone, which looks like shades of raspberry, mauve, and pinks. I fell in love with this color and knew it had to come home with me.

With this yarn, I plan on making a baby blanket, so stay tuned until next week where I’ll show you the completed blanket and what this yarn looks like worked up into a pattern. I will also mention that as of right now I did not wash and dry this yarn. However, I will go more into detail about this process once the pattern is complete and I have a more accurate assessment. As of right now, Red Heart Super Saver Ombre feels soft and squishy to me.

Overall, I would recommend checking this yarn out as the gradient colors are just so pretty. With bigger skeins, you could definitely make a variety of projects with only a couple of skeins. I hope in the future, Red Heart comes out with more colors in this collection as it would be great to experiment and see how other colors work up.
