Today I’ll be sharing my Nightberry Chevron Blanket pattern with you. This is one of my favorite blanket designs, so I knew I had to work out the math and come up with my own chevron pattern. Check out this chevron stitch tutorial. However, this chevron blanket is made by crocheting every other row in the back loop only. Upon completion, you will notice a slight ribbing effect on the front side of the blanket. This baby blanket is made using Caron Big Cake yarn. Check out my review of this yarn here. This nightberry chevron blanket measures 46×45. You can also customize this blanket to be wider or longer depending on your preference. However, you will need to purchase more yarn if you decide to make this blanket wider or longer.
For today’s tutorial, you will need worsted weight yarn (I’m using Caron Big Cake) and a size I-9 crochet hook (I’m using Clover Amour). Feel free to use a different worsted weight yarn in a solid or variegated color if you’d like. You can also change colors to achieve the look you’re going for. NIGHTBERRY CHEVRON BLANKET PATTERN
MATERIALS:
- I-9 Crochet Hook (I’m using Clover Amour)
- 2.5 skeins of Caron Big Cake in Nightberry (or any other worsted weight yarn; approx. 1,809 yards)
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
FINISHED SIZE:
46×45
PATTERN:
Chain 148
ROW 1: 1 dc in 4th chain from hook, *1 dc in the next 6 chains, dc3tog, 1 dc in next 6 chains, 3 dc in next chain. Continue until you reach the end of the row. Make 2 dcs in final chain. Chain 3 and turn.
ROW 2: Working in both loops, 1 dc in same stitch as chain, *1 dc in next 6 stitches, dc3tog, 1 dc in next 6 stitches, 3 dc in next stitch. Continue until you reach the end of the row. Make 2 dcs in top of chain 3. Chain 3 and turn.
ROW 3: Working in BLO, 1 dc in same stitch as chain, *1 dc in next 6 stitches, dc3tog, 1 dc in next 6 stitches, 3 dc in next stitch. Continue until you reach the end of the row. Make 2dc in top of chain 3. Chain 3 and turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until blanket measures 45 inches or until desired length.
BORDER (optional): Chain 1 and turn. Sc in each stitch around making 3 scs in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
