Hey everyone! Today I’m reviewing Lion Brand Cupcake Yarn. I picked up this yarn a few months ago when it first debuted and knew I wanted to make something with it. Lion Brand Cupcake yarn has 24 different color combinations to choose from, which is great as I feel like there is truly something for everyone. Have you used this yarn before? Continue reading below to see what I think about Lion Brand Cupcake Yarn.
REVIEW OF LION BRAND CUPCAKE YARN
As I mentioned, Lion Brand Cupcake yarn comes in 24 different color combinations. You have some pretty neutral colors, but also some bright, bold colors. When looking at the yarn label, you will see what the stripes will look like as you work up this yarn. I love how the colors blend together nicely. You have enough of one color before it fades into the next color. This is great as you really take advantage of all the colors in each skein.
Each skein of Lion Brand Cupcake yarn is 590 yards or 5.3oz. It’s 100% acrylic and is considered a #3 lightweight yarn. Because of the amount of yardage in each skein, you can easily make a baby blanket using 2-3 skeins. Lion Brand Cupcake yarn suggests using a size H-8 crochet hook or size 5 knitting needles with this yarn. It’s also machine washable.
COST OF YARN
Lion Brand Cupcake yarn comes in at $7.99 a skein. However, you can probably find this yarn on sale at times on the Lion Brand website, Joann Fabrics stores and online as well as Amazon. For the amount of yarn you get, this yarn is priced well.
FEEL OF LION BRAND CUPCAKE YARN
The feel of Lion Brand Cupcake yarn is soft like other acrylic yarns. You can easily make a multitude of projects with this yarn and not have to worry about it feeling too scratchy. To me, it feels nice and soft, but also squishy. You can tell that even though this is a lighter weight yarn, it will still hold up well over time. I would feel comfortable making items for charity with this yarn based on its softness.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
My overall impression of Lion Brand Cupcake yarn is great. I would definitely recommend using it again for a project. I love the color combinations available and the price is right without it being too expensive. Another thing I love is the fact that it’s more of a lighter weight yarn, as I feel most cake-type yarns are worsted weight.
One of my favorite things about Lion Brand Cupcake yarn is the color chart on the label. I like being able to see what the colors would look like once worked up in a project. It helps me to visualize this a little more. I also like the amount of yarn you get in each skein. As you know, I love making blankets, so this is a great way to keep costs low, but also have enough yarn to complete a blanket.
That’s what I think of the Lion Brand Cupcake yarn. I just wanted to say that these are my own opinions as I’m not being paid or sponsored by Lion Brand to give this review. Have you ever used this yarn before? What do you think of it?
