Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest crochet pattern, the Lacy Dishcloth. This is an advanced beginner crochet pattern that provides a little bit of texture to scrub your dishes.
The Lacy Dishcloth is made using 100% cotton yarn in three different colors. However, this cotton dishcloth would be pretty in just about every color combination out there. The possibilities are truly endless!
For the Lacy Dishcloth, I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton. However, you can use whatever cotton yarn you’d like. I also used a size I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook. I highly recommend using my favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour. You will also need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!
Lacy Dishcloth
Materials:
- (1) skein each of Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton in Aqua, Deep Teal, and White
- I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Size:
8″ in diameter
Notes:
- To start, you can either make a magic circle or chain 4 and slip stitch to the very first chain to form a ring.
- Do not turn after each round. You will be working in the same direction.
- Whenever you see parenthesis, you will follow the instructions inside the parenthesis into the stitch indicated.
- I changed colors every 2 rounds, however, feel free to change the colors as you wish.

With White, magic circle or CH 4 and SL ST to beginning CH to form a ring.
Round 1: CH 1, make 13 DC inside ring, pull tight to close ring, SL ST to beginning DC, CH 1. (13 DC)
Round 2: 2 DC in first stitch and in each stitch around, cut yarn and change to Deep Teal. (26 DC)
Round 3: SL ST in first DC, CH 3, *SL ST in next DC, CH 3, repeat from * around, ending with CH 3, SL ST inside the first CH-3 space. (26 CH-3 loops)
Round 4: CH 4 (counts as first DC and CH 1), DC in same CH-3 space, *work (DC, CH 1, DC) in next CH-3 space, repeat from * around, SL ST in the 3rd CH at the beginning. Fasten off and change to Aqua. (26 V-stitches)
Round 5: SL ST in CH-1 space, CH 4 (counts as first DC and CH 1), DC in same CH-1 space, *work (DC, CH 1, DC) in next CH-1 space, repeat from * around, join with SL ST in the 3rd CH at the beginning. (26 V-stitches)
Round 6: Repeat Round 5. Fasten off and change to White. (26 V-stitches)
Round 7: SL ST in CH-1 space, CH 1, work (SC, CH 2, SC) in each CH-1 space around, SL ST to beginning CH-2 space. (26 SC V-stitches)
Round 8: CH 1, work (SC, CH 2, SC) in each CH-2 space around, SL ST to beginning SC. Fasten off and change to Deep Teal. (26 SC V-stitches)
Round 9: SL ST in CH-2 space, CH 1, work (2 SC, CH 2, 2 SC) in each CH-2 space around. SL ST to beginning SC. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
