Earlier this month I shared my 2020 crafty goals with you. If you missed it, you can check it out here. I decided that I’m going to do a monthly recap of my crafty goals both to keep me on track, but also share my progress with you. Here is my January 2020 crafty goals recap.

Like I mentioned, I wanted to do a little recap of my monthly crafty goals to help keep me on track. I have so much going on, so I thought it would be easier to break down my goals by month so it wouldn’t seem so overwhelming. I also realized I set other crafty goals for myself that I didn’t initially include in my 2020 crafty goals, so I will include them in these monthly recaps instead.

First things first, I am using my Hufflepuff 2020 Planner that my lovely husband bought me for Christmas. I mentioned I wanted to get more organized, so this was the perfect gift! I know a lot of people have online calendars and planners, but I’m a pen and paper type of girl. There’s just something satisfying about writing down lists and crossing them off as you accomplish them.

Design More Crochet Patterns

This month, I designed one crochet pattern. I wanted to make something for the cold weather we’re having, so the Modern Chevron Scarf was born. This is made using leftover worsted weight yarn from another project. I really like how this scarf turned out, and I know it’ll be beautiful in a variety of different colors.

Become More Familiar with my Cricut Machine

For Christmas, I treated myself by purchasing a Cricut Explore Air 2. I’ve wanted a Cricut for years as there are so many different things you can make with it. I’m not going to lie, it was a little intimidating at first. I became a little frustrated with it because my paper kept curling and I couldn’t get the pen to work. Finally, after a little YouTube research, I figured it out.

I wanted to make two Cricut projects this month, and I am happy to report that I have successfully completed three projects. I made the practice card that came with the machine as well as a birthday card. While it’s not perfect, I’m glad I finally got the hang of it.

My third project were these vinyl pot holders. I saw this YouTube video and became obsessed with them. I purchased the necessary supplies (minus the baking utensil and cookie mix) and got to work. The end results are amazing!

Prepare for Craft Fair

I participate in a craft fair every spring and fall. Normally, I come up with cute ideas after my craft fair is over. This year, I’m trying to work on a few projects each month in order to stay on top of everything. That way I know I have a stock built up instead of waiting until the last minute to make things.

This month, I made two chicken towel toppers, two flower on canvas wall art, and two Christmas stockings. I also purchased a new hot glue gun, shadowboxes, and mason jar stickers for my project.

A new product I’m going to introduce are the pot holders I mentioned above. For my craft fair, I plant to include cookie mix and baking utensil and sell it as a set. I have a feeling that these are going to be popular.

Finish WIP’s (Works in Progress)

I don’t usually have many WIP’s laying around as I tend to crochet one or two projects at a time until they’re completed. However, I had three baby blanket and matching hat sets I made in December that I had yet to finish. I wanted to include an applique on each of them (Nella’s Cottage Designs anyone?), but ran out of hot glue. I ended up buying a new hot glue gun and extra hot glue sticks to finish these projects. They’re up on my Etsy Shop if you’re interested in purchasing one of them.

Ongoing Crafty Goals Update

Yarn Skeins Used- 38 skeins/7,677 yards

Create More Worry Less- I decided this month to go through my stash and use up any leftover yarns for charity projects. I’m making pet beds to donate to Comfort for Critters. I made a total of 13 pet beds for charity this month.
