Harry Potter Pattern Roundup

HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY POTTER!! Yes, today marks the young wizard’s birthday. In honor of Harry Potter’s birthday, I’m putting together a magical Harry Potter pattern roundup made by some talented people. Check out the full list below!

The Harry Potter series has been a huge hit with me ever since it first debuted. I remember going on a field trip with my class to see the first Harry Potter film in theaters. I have been fascinated with the characters and the storyline ever since.

I’ve read the books dozens of times and have watched the films multiple times as well. As a crocheter, I couldn’t help but notice the many crocheted (and knitted) items worn by the characters. So without further ado, let’s get to the Harry Potter inspired crochet patterns! Did I mention they’re all FREE?

First up, we have a Harry Potter Ragdoll pattern courtesy of Spin a Yarn Crochet. This free pattern is adorable! You can also customize this pattern to match any other character such as Ron, Hermione, or Draco. The details on this ragdoll pattern are stunning and really make the characters come to life. The pattern is written clearly so any witch, wizard, or muggle can understand it.

Next up, we have this Harry Potter pillow graph pattern from Crafty Ridge Designs. I personally have made this pillow for my sister and I, so I knew I had to include it here in this Harry Potter pattern roundup. I absolutely LOVE this pattern!!

This pillow is currently sitting in my craft room. This pattern is worked using the bobble stitch, however, you can customize this and make a corner to corner version instead. I decided to go with the bobble stitch version for the front and corner to corner for the back.

Here is what my Harry Potter pillow looks like:

If you want even more Harry Potter graphs, Crafty Ridge Designs has a bunch of character graphs you can make for FREE! She has generously added all these Harry Potter graphs for free on her website. You can make pillows using these graphs or make it into a giant Harry Potter blanket like she did. Check it out here!

What’s a witch or wizard without a House Scarf? These House Scarfs a perfect way to represent your Hogwarts House. You can find the free pattern here. Did you know that the younger students’ scarves vary slightly from the older students’ scarves? Younger students have thicker or wider stripes while the older students have thin stripes. Feel free to change this up as desired.

This next free Harry Potter pattern is a Golden Snitch. Requiring only a little bit of yarn and some stuffing, this pattern will work up quicker than you can say Quidditch! While this crocheted version may not fly, you will have a crocheted replica to display.

Ah Luna Lovegood! While she may come across as an odd character, she does seem to wear a lot of crocheted and/or knitted items. This one is a replica of a scarf she wore in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It’s a beautiful lacy scarf that would look gorgeous in many different colors. Check out the pattern here.

Another Luna Lovegood staple is her radish earrings. She seems to have a unique fashion sense, but isn’t afraid to stand out. Check out the free pattern here.

Students must put on The Sorting Hat when sorted into their Houses. This free pattern is made with such great detail, I can practically hear it talking to me! Check out the pattern here.

Mad-Eye Moody was first introduced to us in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Mad-Eye had a magical eye that swiveled all around and allowed him to see what was happening behind him as well as through walls. Here is a free pattern to make Mad-Eye’s eye patch.

Another great Harry Potter pattern is Hedwig, Harry’s snowy owl. This is too cute to pass up and would be another great addition for a Harry Potter fan. I can see it now-Hedwig sitting on top of a bookcase next to Harry Potter books.

I hope you enjoyed my Harry Potter pattern roundup! These are ten great free patterns that Harry Potter fans of all ages will enjoy.
