Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet collection, the Harry Potter Collection! I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan (where are my Hufflepuffs at?!), so I wanted to make some Harry Potter inspired items. Today also happens to be Harry Potter’s birthday, so I thought it would be fitting to celebrate with some awesome items!

Below, you will find the Harry Potter inspired blanket pattern. Don’t worry, all four Houses are represented! This blanket pattern is based on the scarves from the movies.

This crochet blanket pattern is beginner-friendly, but does require you to understand how to change colors. You can change up the sizing of this blanket by simply changing the number of chains.

For the Harry Potter Collection, I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Cranberry, Black, Sungold, Dark Denim, Graymist, and Forest Green. However, you can use any #4 worsted weight yarn you like to represent the colors of your Hogwarts House. I also used a size J-10 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Harry Potter Inspired Baby Blanket

Materials:

• J-10 hook 
• (2) skeins of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Cranberry (Main Color)
• (1) skein of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Sungold (Color B)
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Size:

36×36

Notes:

• If you want to change up the sizing of this blanket, you need to work any even number of chains.
• You can change up the colors to match your Hogwarts House. Please see the beginning of this post to find out what colors I used.
• The chain 3 at the beginning of each row will count as your first double crochet.

Harry Potter Inspired Baby Blanket Pattern:

Starting with main color, ch 100 (or any even number)

Row 1: work 2dcs into the 4th ch from hook. Skip the next chain, *2dcs in the next ch, skip next ch. Repeat from * across until you have 2 chs left. Skip 1 ch and in the very last ch make a dc. Ch 3 and turn.

Row 2: work 2dcs in between each pair of dc from the previous row. Insert your hook into the space between them. You will repeat this across the entire row. Make 1dc into the top of your ch 3. Ch 3 and turn.

Repeat Row 2 for the remainder of the blanket. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
