Today’s Halloween pattern is the Lion Brand Halloween Pennant Pattern. This is a free pattern, which you can find on their website. I thought this would be a fun and cute beginner pattern to try out just in time for the holiday. It also is something I can knock off my crafty goals list.
For this project, I used a size G-6 Clover Amour crochet hook and Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. The colors I used were Burnt Pumpkin, Yellow, White, and Black. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather up your supplies and let’s begin!
The first things you will make are the candy corn pennants. Starting with Yellow, you will follow the pattern as stated. You will make four of these candy corn pennants. Next, you will use Black and make three of the solid pennants. The solid pennants are slightly bigger than the candy corn ones.
After you finish that, you will make two cute bows. This is a fun little edition, especially since I haven’t made any bows previous to this. I can see this as a cute accessory on a hat, headband, or even making a pin.
Next, you need to attach all the pennants together, which you will do by making some chain stitches and single crocheting across the top of each pennant. You will start with the candy corn pennant and alternate between the striped and solid pennants.
Finally, you will need to make the BOO lettering by either using the surface chain stitch method or embroidered chain stitch. However, I cut the three letters out of white felt and hot glued them to the banner. I also used this method when making my fall banner.
Ta da!! I really enjoyed this Halloween pennant pattern a lot as it was quick to work up. I highly encourage you to try this free beginner pattern, which you can find on the Lion Brand website. It’s a fun decoration you can put up around your house or even at your cubicle at work. Once you have the basics of how this pattern is constructed, you can use a bigger hook or you can make more pennants than what is listed in the pattern. Again, I enjoyed this Halloween pennant pattern for the simplicity and ease it took to make it.
