Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Grit Stitch Scarf. This scarf is made using the grit stitch, which is a one-row repeat pattern. This makes it beginner-friendly and quick to make.
For the Grit Stitch Scarf, I chose a self-striping yarn. I wanted something that would really show off this stitch definition. I ended up using Caron Skinny Cakes in Rainbow. This scarf is just stunning and is an excellent choice to keep you warm!
If you don’t have this yarn, you can use any lightweight #3 yarn you’d like. You can even use a worsted weight #4 or a bulky weight #5 yarn if you so choose. You will just change up the amount of chains you make for the beginning of your project. I also used a size H-8 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Notes:
- To change the width of this scarf, you will need a multiple of 2+1. This means you will chain any multiple of 2 and add 1 more chain to the very end.
- The skipped chains at the beginning of row 1 count as your first single crochet stitch.
- The chain 1 at the start of each row counts as a single crochet.
- Whenever you see parenthesis, you will follow the instructions inside the parenthesis into the stitch indicated.

CH 35
Row 1: In the 3rd CH from the hook, make a DC (2 skipped CHS counts as a SC). *Skip the next CH and in the CH after that make a (SC, DC) in the same CH. Repeat from * until you have 2 CHS left. Skip a CH and in the final CH, make a SC. CH 1 and turn.
Row 2: Make a DC into the very first stitch (CH 1 counts as a SC). *Skip next stitch (DC from previous row) and work (SC, DC) into the next stitch (SC from previous row). Repeat from * across until you have 2 stitches remaining. Skip one stitch and make a SC in the last stitch. CH 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the scarf measures 54 inches or your desired length. I used about half a cake of yarn. Cut yarn and weave in your ends.
