Hey everyone! Today is another pattern review for you. Today I’ll be reviewing the Gingerbread Towel Topper designed by Mary Layfield. I made some for a fall craft fair this year and they sold like hot cakes! This pattern is easy to follow and the end result is so cute!
GINGERBREAD TOWEL TOPPER PATTERN REVIEW
To make this towel topper, you will need worsted weight yarn and a size G-6 crochet hook. I used Red Heart Super Saver in café latte (medium brown) and white. I also used some Red Heart Holiday yarn I had leftover from a previous project. For my crochet hook, I used Clover Amour, which I can’t say enough good things about them. I purchased my hooks on Amazon. You will also need some safety eyes and polyfill stuffing.
You will start making the head (make two pieces) first by working in rounds. Next, you make the facial features and sew them onto one side of the head. Then, you sew the two head pieces together and stuff it firmly before closing it up.
Next, you will begin making two arms, sewing them together, and stuffing before closing your seam up. When it comes to making the dress, you will begin by making the handle and working your way into the dress.
PATTERN ADJUSTMENTS
When it comes to making this pattern, I decided to change it up a little. This was all based on my personal preference. The original Gingerbread Towel Topper pattern called for an apron over the dress, but I opted not to make this. I thought the pattern was cute enough without having to include this.
I also decided to forgo the pom for the nose because I didn’t have any at home. Instead, I grabbed some red yarn, made a magic circle, made 4 scs inside the ring and joined to the beginning. This worked out perfectly for me.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Overall, I really enjoyed making this pattern and plan on making even more of these for next year’s fall craft fair. I love that this Gingerbread Towel Topper pattern included a loop underneath the dress so you can change out the towel if desired. This pattern can be modified to fit your needs and style and can be made in a variety of different colors.
