Floating Squares Dishcloth

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Floating Squares Dishcloth. This is final pattern of my Dishcloth Series, where every Saturday in June I’ll be sharing a new dishcloth pattern. The Floating Squares Dishcloth is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern that can be made in a variety of colors or even just a solid color.

The Floating Squares Dishcloth is made using Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton in Dove (gray). However, you can use any cotton yarn you have in your yarn stash. This dishcloth is great to use up leftover yarn. I also used a size H-8 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Note:

  • You can change up the sizing of this dishcloth by making a multiple of 5. Once satisfied, you will add 3 more chains to the end.

Pattern:

Ch33

Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1 and turn.

Row 2: sc in first 2 sts, *ch3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * to end. You will make 1sc in the last 2 sts. Ch3 and turn.

Row 3: make 5dcs into the ch-3 space from previous row. Repeat this across the row. You will make a dc into the last sc of the row below. Ch1 and turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your dishcloth measures 8 inches. If you’re making your dishcloth a different size, you will repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your dishcloth is even in width and length. Make sure to end with Row 3. Weave in all ends.

Thank you so much for joining me today as I share my Floating Squares Dishcloth pattern with you. I hope you enjoyed making this beginner-friendly dishcloth. Let me know in the comments below if you plan on making this dishcloth or what you’re currently working on. I’d love to hear from you!
