Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Fall Scarf. I wanted to make something for the upcoming fall season, especially with those chilly days ahead. The Fall Scarf is a beginner-friendly pattern as it’s a one-row repeat pattern.
For the Fall Scarf, I used #4 worsted weight yarn in fall colors. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, however, you can use any yarn you’d like. I also used a size J-10 (6.0 mm) crochet hook My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!
Fall Scarf
Materials:
- 1 skein each of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Light Sage, Desert Glaze, Cranberry, and Cream
- J-10 (6.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Size:
7 wide x 57 long
Notes:
- To change the width of this scarf, you will need to make a chain that’s a multiple of 10 plus 2. (Example: 10×3=30 plus 2=32)
- I changed colors after every two rows. You will have a total of 11 sets of the four-color repeat. At the end, you will make two rows of Light Sage, so your scarf starts and ends with the same color.
- After you make each set of colors, I highly recommend weaving in your ends. This will help you to not have so many ends to weave in at the very end.

Fall Scarf Pattern:
With Light Sage, CH 32
Row 1: Skip first 2 CHS (counts as first DC), DC in each of the next 4 CH, *skip 2 CH, DC in each of the next 4 CH, CH 2, DC in each of the next 4 CH. Repeat from * until you have 6 CHS remaining. Skip 2 CH, DC in each of the next 3 CH, 2 DC in last CH, turn.
Row 2: CH 3 (counts as first DC), DC in same beginning stitch, DC in each of the next 3 stitches, *skip 2 stitches, DC in next 3 stitches, (DC, CH 2, DC) all into that CH-2 space, DC in next 3 stitches. Repeat from * until you have 6 stitches remaining. Skip 2 stitches, DC in next 3 stitches, 2 DC in top of turning CH, turn.
Repeat Row 2 for the pattern. Your color changes will be as follows:
Light Sage-2 rows
Desert Glaze-2 rows
Cranberry- 2 rows
Cream-2 rows
Once you reach 11 sets of these four colors together, you will make 2 rows of Light Sage so your scarf starts and ends with the same green color. You should have a total of 90 rows.

Hi Amanda. Thanks for your help with crocheting.
You're welcome!
Hi, I’m planning to make this as a Christmas present! We can’t buy Hobby Lobby goods here in the UK, need to substitute. Looked up size of hobby lobby you used, & it seems you need 800g to make this scarf…is this correct, please? If it’s a worsted weight, of course! Could you confirm that, please? I may do a thinner weight, my friend likes thin scarves…would it need more than that (Ah, I can Google that bit)! Thanks, been looking for a nice ripple type pattern! Sara
Hello! So, you don't need a full skein of each color to complete this project. I believe I used less than half a skein of each, if making it in 4 different colors. If you were to use a solid color, I would say you would need 2 skeins or about 400g, depending on how long you'd like to make it. Hope that helps!
