Hey everyone! Today’s book review is going to be on Every Which Way Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman. This book features over 139 of different borders from simple single crochet borders to the more extreme borders. Whether you’re a beginner or an advance crocheter looking for something new to hook up, there is something for everyone.
One of the things I like best about Every Which Way Crochet Borders is that its spine is a spiral. This makes it easier for the book to stay open when you’re referring back to one of the borders. It saves you the hassle of having to hold the book open with your knees or constantly opening and closing the book.
Another thing I like about this book is the fact that you get a picture of each completed border. You also get a graph for each border. Edie has this graph clearly drawn out with the various crochet symbols you’ll need to create each border pattern. The graphs are easy to read. I like the fact that you can see the before and after pictures, so to speak, of what each border will look like.
Although there are over 139 of different borders to create, I found that most of the borders in this book were either a little tedious or something I would never use. There is one where you just chain up a certain number of chains and another where you make fringe and braid it. Some of the borders just look odd to me, but that’s my opinion. If you’re able to find a use for some of the more odd-looking borders included in this book, be my guest. I think some of them are pretty, but I don’t always find them practical, at least coming from someone who tends to make lots and lots of blankets.
If you’re the type of person who enjoys making borders and wants something other than the ordinary simple borders, Every Which Way Crochet Borders is for you. However, if you’re like me and think a lot of these borders are crazy-looking, then I might skip it or check it out at your local library.
