Essential Stripe Baby Blanket

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest blanket pattern, the Essential Stripe Baby Blanket. This blanket was made using soft, chunky weight yarn in a fun striped pattern. I hope you enjoy making this blanket just as much as I did.

This blanket can be easily adjusted to be bigger or smaller. You will simply adjust the number of chains you make at the beginning of the blanket.

This is a beginner-friendly pattern, but you do need to know the basics of crochet in order to make this pattern. Check out my tutorials of the different stitches needed for this blanket:

Let’s continue onto the pattern!

ESSENTIAL STRIPE BABY BLANKET

Materials:

Size:

  • 29×34

Notes:

  • This pattern can easily be adjusted to be any size you would like. You would simply need to adjust your chain to the sizing you want. Likewise, you can make as many rows as you would like using this stripe repeat pattern.
  • To make the HHDC (herringbone half double crochet) stitch: yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Bring the yarn through the first loop on your hook, then yarn over and pull through the two remaining loops on your hook. Check out my video tutorial here:

Essential Stripe Baby Blanket Pattern:

Starting with Greyhound, chain 72

Row 1: Make a HHDC stitch in the 3rd chain from your hook and in each chain across. Chain 2 and turn.

Row 2: Make a HHDC into the second stitch and in each stitch across. Chain 2 and turn.

You will repeat this stitch for the entire blanket. Here is the stripe sequence I used:

11 rows Greyhound

3 rows White

6 rows Powder Blue

2 rows White

3 rows Greyhound

15 rows White

3 rows Greyhound

2 rows White

6 rows Powder Blue

3 rows White

11 rows Greyhound

Border:

For the border, I simply made a single crochet border in White. I made 3 single crochet stitches in each corner and slip stitched to the beginning of my round. Once I finished, I wove in all my ends.

I hope you enjoyed my Essential Stripe Baby Blanket pattern. This blanket would look beautiful in so many different colors!
