The Crochet Crowd recently came out with this Easy Crochet V Market Bag pattern. Upon first glance, I knew I HAD to make this bag!! You can check out the free pattern here. Today I’m going to review the Easy Crochet V Market Bag and tell you my honest thoughts about them. Have you made this market bag?
I just want to point out that I’m not being paid or sponsored by The Crochet Crowd. This review is strictly my own as well as my own honest thoughts.
REVIEW OF THE EASY CROCHET V MARKET BAG
I have some Caron Cotton Cakes at home, but didn’t know what to do with them. They keep looking at me, begging me to make something with them. Once I learned about this new Crochet V Market Bag, I was instantly intrigued and thought that would be the perfect pattern to use my Caron Cotton Cakes with. You can check out my review of the Cotton Cakes here.
One of my favorite colors in this line is Beachglass, which was used in the original pattern. I decided to use the same color for my market bag. The pattern looks simple enough. The concept of using the shell stitch and front post double crochet stitch is actually familiar to me, as I’ve made a blanket with this same technique. Maybe that’s why I fell in love with this bag?
HOW THIS BAG WORKS UP
The completed bag measures about 14” wide by 14” long excluding the handles. While working the Easy Crochet V Market Bag, I found that my work curled up a little. This could be my tension, but also keep in mind that it could be the pattern itself. Once you make more and more rows, and make the top band, it should even itself out.
To make this bag, you will be using a size G-6 (4mm) crochet hook. I’m using my favorite go-to crochet hook, Clover Amour. Check out my review of them here. I don’t typically use a smaller crochet hook, so I’m finding myself working a little slower as normal. That’s OK though as I’m enjoying the process of making this market bag.
You will be using 3 cakes of Caron Cotton Cake yarn. However, I don’t see why you couldn’t use a different yarn. Just be mindful that if you change up your yarn or your hook size, your market bag will come out different than the original design.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Overall, I really enjoyed making this Easy Crochet V Market Bag. I thought the pattern was written well and easy to understand. The pictures included in the pattern are bright and show off the texture of the bag. It’s what made me stop, do a double take, and immediately print the pattern out to get started on it.
I have no complaints about this pattern whatsoever. I highly encourage you to try this Easy Crochet V Market Bag out for yourself. Mikey, the designer, also mentions you could line the bag with fabric. While I’m not that skilled, I think this is an excellent idea to give the bag a little more character.
I can easily see myself making more of these bags in the future. It’s fun, quick, and I love the texture and striped effect of this market bag.
