Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Crochet Newborn Hat. This is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern using beginner stitches. The Crochet Newborn Hat is a basic hat pattern that can easily be made into a bigger size hat. In this post, I’ve included four different hat sizes to choose from. This easy crochet hat also features a cute brim. Whether you choose to make this hat in a solid color or a few different colors for stripes, it is easily customizable.
The Crochet Newborn Hat is made using Caron Simply Soft Yarn. However, you can use any #4 worsted weight yarn you have in your yarn stash. I also used a size I-9 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors, and a tapestry needle. A measuring tape is also helpful. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Brim
Start by chaining 6 in whatever color you’re doing your brim in. **NOTE** You can choose to make your brim longer for the bigger hats if you want. For this pattern’s purpose, I am starting with a CH6.
SC in 2nd from hook and in next 4. SS in next 2 on hat, making sure not to SC in the same stitch that your CH came from. Do not CH1. Turn.
*SCBLO in each stitch across (5) CH1, TURN.
SCBLO in each stitch across, and then SS in next 2 on hat. TURN. (5) *do not CH 1 after SS to hat. Repeat from * all the way around.
SS the two ends together and tie off, weave in ends.
