Cozy Waffle Cowl Pattern

Hey everyone! Today I have another pattern for you! This is my cozy waffle cowl. This cowl works up quickly and is sure to keep you toasty warm. I paired this cozy waffle cowl with some buttons for a nice finished look. Once you understand how to work the waffle stitch, you will fall in love with it and enjoy the beautiful texture it creates.

To complete the cozy waffle cowl, you will need worsted weight yarn. I am using Caron Big Cake in the color Nightberry. You will also need a size I-9 crochet hook. I’m using my favorite Clover Amour hooks. You will also need two buttons. They can be any buttons you’d like, as long as they’re 2 inches in diameter. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

COZY WAFFLE COWL

Materials:

Note:

If you would like to make this cowl in a different size, you can change up your chains at the beginning. You will need to make a multiple chain of 3+2. This means you’ll make a chain of 3+3+3+3 until your desired length and add 2 more chains to the very end. This will keep everything in balance.

Finished Size:

9×33

Pattern:

Ch 38

Row 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each stitch across. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: dc in 1st stitch, *fpdc in next stitch, 1dc in the next 2 stitches. Repeat from * to the end. Make 1dc into the top of your beginning chain. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 3: 1dc in the first two stitches. *Fpdc into the next 2 stitches, 1dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to the very end of your row. Ch 1 and turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your cozy waffle cowl measures 32″ or until desired length.

Button Row: Make 1dc into the next 5 stitches, ch 2 and skip 2 stitches. Work 1dc into each stitch across until you have 7 stitches left. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, and make 1dc into the remaining 5 stitches.

Final Row: Make 1dc into each stitch across including the chains. Fasten off and weave in ends.

To sew the buttons on, you will use a scrap piece of yarn leftover from your cowl. Place the buttons on the long end of the cowl like in the photo below. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Now you have your very own cowl! The cozy waffle cowl is a versatile pattern. It can be made using chunky yarn as well. You will just have to adjust your hook size to correspond to your yarn weight. The cozy waffle cowl would make a perfect gift for friends and family and even yourself!
