I recently came across a stitch that I have been obsessing over. This stitch is very simple that beginners and experienced crocheters alike will enjoy doing. This stitch is called the seed stitch. I decided to come up with a baby blanket, which is where the Cozy Stripes Baby Blanket was born. I am using two different colors of Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn, which you can find my review of here.

Without further ado, here is the Cozy Stripes Baby Blanket!

COZY STRIPES BABY BLANKET

Materials:

• 4 skeins of Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn in Baby Pink
• 3 skeins of Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn in Snow White
• J-10 Crochet Hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

Finished Size:

39” x 38”

Pattern:

Begin with Baby Pink color. Chain 110.

ROW 1: Single crochet in 2^nd chain from hook, single crochet in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.

ROW 2: Single crochet in 1^st 2 stitches, *double crochet in next stitch, single crochet in next stitch. Repeat from * across. Single crochet in last stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

ROW 3: Single crochet in 1^st stitch, *double crochet in next stitch, single crochet in next stitch. Repeat from * across entire row. Chain 1 and turn.

ROW 4-up: Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your blanket reaches your desired length. Fasten off yarn. (NOTE: for my blanket, I used 2 different colors to make a stripe pattern. Each stripe was approx. 4 inches wide. I ended up having 6 pink stripes and 5 white stripes.)

BORDER:

Using the Baby Pink color, join with a slip stitch in any stitch. Chain 2 and half double crochet evenly around the blanket making sure to work 3 half double crochets in each corner, join in beginning half double crochet, fasten off. (NOTE: if you are using the same color for the mini shell edging, chain 2 and continue to the next step.)

MINI SHELL EDGING:

With Snow White color, join into a corner of the blanket and chain 2. Make 4 half double crochets into the first stitch, skip next stitch, single crochet in next stitch, 4 half double crochets in next stitch** Repeat from * to ** around entire blanket, slip stitch into the beginning chain 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.
