Cluster Hot Pad

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Cluster Hot Pad. These hot pads can be made in any color to match your kitchen décor or even your friend or family’s décor. To make this hot pad, you will crochet two panels and sew them together to make them extra thick. The texture on them is just wonderful!

For the Cluster Hot Pad, I used #4 worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton, however, you can use any cotton yarn you’d like. I also used a size H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Cluster Hot Pad

Materials:

Size:

8×8 square

Notes:

  • To change the sizing of this hot pad, you will need to make a chain in an even number.
  • The chain 2 at the beginning of each row counts as your first double crochet.
  • You will make two hot pads and crochet them together to form a double thick hot pad.
  • You will stack the cluster stitches on top of one another.

Special Stitches:

Cluster Stitch-Yarn over, insert hook into designated stitch or space, pull up a loop (3 loops). Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops). Skip next stitch or space, yarn over, insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop (7 loops). Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch and pull up a loop (9 loops). Yarn over and pull loop through all 9 loops on hook, chain one to secure.

Picot stitch-Chain 3 and insert your hook into the bar of the first chain made, yarn over and slip stitch all loops on your hook. *Single crochet in next two stitches, picot stitch. Repeat from * for pattern.
