Closed Shell Stitch (Crochet 101)

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest Crochet 101 Tutorial, the Closed Shell Stitch. The Closed Shell Stitch is a fun, textured two row repeat pattern that would be great for blankets and scarves! You can use a solid color or change up the colors however you’d like.

The yarn I used was Premier Anti-pilling worsted weight yarn. Experiment with different yarns to see which you prefer. I also used a size I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • Any yarn you desire
  • Coordinating hook size recommend on the yarn label

Note:

  • The Closed Shell Stitch is worked in a multiple of 6+1. That means you will make a chain in a multiple of 6 (6,12, 18,etc) until your desired width. Once satisfied, you will add 1 chain to the very end.
