Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Beginner Half Double Crochet Blanket. I was requested to make a simple beginner project, so I thought I would go back to the basics and create a project that absolute beginners can make. This blanket is a one-row repeat pattern and can be customized to any size you’d like!
For the Beginner Half Double Crochet Blanket, I chose a yarn almost everyone can find at their local Walmart or craft stores, Red Heart Super Saver. I fell in love with this country blue color, but Red Heart has a huge array of colors to choose from.
However, you can use any worsted weight #4 yarn you’d like. I also used a size J-10 (6mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Chain 102
Row 1: In the 2nd CH from hook, make a HDC. HDC in each CH across. CH 2 and turn.
Row 2: HDC in 2nd stitch and in each stitch across. CH 2 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the blanket measures 35 inches or desired length. I ended up making 90 rows for my blanket.
